The CEO of Newfoundland and Labrador Hydro believes more can be added to the Churchill Falls MOU with Hydro-Québec, despite previously telling the House of Assembly that last year’s MOU was the “best deal” for the province.
Jennifer Williams, who served on the previous MOU’s negotiating panel, is also part of a new negotiation team put in place by the PC government.
Williams says she is focused on securing a deal that is in the “best interest of Newfoundlanders and Labradorians.”
“Things have changed in the last couple of years. We’ve got a new government. The premier is very clear about his expectations for how we approach going forward. If anybody is unclear, they don’t need to listen very long,” she told reporters.
“We are going to work with our negotiating team to work forward on what another negotiation might look like and see if we can get something in the best interest of the people of the province.”
