Those who wear a badge and a uniform in the name of the law are hurting after their colleagues in blue were gunned down in separate incidents recently.
The Royal Newfoundland Constabulary has two officers in Toronto for the funeral of 43 year-old Constable Marc Pinizzotto, who was shot earlier this month while searching an apartment building in the city’s northwest. A 19-year-old man, who is still in hospital, has been charged with murder.
Three police officers in Canada have been killed over the past two weeks.
Staff Sgt. Mike Summers of the RNC Association says this is a very trying time for them and police officers right across the country.
“It’s another stark reminder of how dangerous this job can be,” Summers told Your VOCM Mornings. “It plays on our minds and weighs heavy on us each day we come into work.”
