A man in Ferndale has been cited by the law for burning brush during a time when the Forest Fire Index was high risk (yellow).

The 41-year-old, who did have a permit to burn, was ticketed after ignoring an order by the fire department to extinguish the blaze. All burn permits are automatically suspended when the index reaches high, very high, or extreme.

RCMP in Placentia ticketed him later that night.
