Premier Tony Wakeham is set to meet Quebec Premier Christine Fréchette this week to discuss the future of Hydro Development at the Churchill Falls site in Labrador.
Wakeham committed to meeting with the Quebec Premier after the province released a PC-directed review of the MOU between Hydro-Quebec and this province, which concluded that the project is not in the best interests of Newfoundlanders and Labradorians.
The meeting is part of a conference of Canadian Premiers in PEI, where meetings are scheduled through Wednesday in Charlottetown.
Fréchette told the Canadian Press in June that the MOU “is at risk” if it is not ratified before this fall’s elections in Quebec.
