The annual Regatta Eve concert at the Bandstand on the Boulevard kicks off this evening at 5:30.
The lineup includes Carolina East at 5:30, the Celtic Connection at 6:45 and The Navigators at 8:00 p.m.
Admission is free and Gulliver’s is providing a free shuttle service between Confederation Building and the old Dominion between 5:00 p.m. and 9:30 on a load and go basis.
Keith White, President of the Royal St. John’s Regatta, says road closures in the area take effect just before the concert.
“The Boulevard side, Lake Avenue, Carnell Drive – things are closing as early as 5:00. We do have some parking in the old Dominion and we have partnered with Inclusion NL, who will be at lakeside, to provide assistance for those with mobile challenges,” says White.
As for the big day itself, Metrobus general manager Judy Powell says there will be three pick-up and drop-off locations: Confederation Building, The Village Shopping Centre and Kent Building Supplies on Stavanger Drive.
The cost is $1 per ride but children under 12 ride for free. Regatta Day is the busiest day of the year for public transportation in metro.
