Conservative Leader Pierre Poilievre says he hasn’t heard from a “single Quebecer” who thinks the Labrador border is a priority.

The Parti Québécois recently stated that if it wins the next provincial election and a new Churchill Falls energy deal is struck, it will demand compensation for Quebec’s historical loss of Labrador.

Poilievre is dismissing the idea, saying politicians at both the federal and provincial levels need to focus on the “daily concerns” of citizens rather than redrawing borders.

“I have been travelling throughout Quebec for the last four years and I haven’t met a single Quebecer tell me that the border with Labrador is a priority for them. Their priorities are affordable groceries, affordable gas cost of living, affordable homes and safer streets,” he told reporters.

“I encourage all federal and provincial parties to focus on the daily concerns that real Quebecers in communities across the province are actually focused on.”
