Cottle’s Island Lumber of Summerford has been charged under the province’s Occupational Health and Safety Act for allegedly failing to comply with orders issued by the province in September and November of 2024.

The charges relate to a series of alleged workplace failures.

They include the safe storage of hazardous materials, the provision of emergency eye and skin-washing facilities, workplace cleanliness, hearing, eye and face protection requirements, and the availability of a worker certified in emergency first aid among a number of other issues.

The company is scheduled to appear in Gander provincial court on September 15th.

• Compliance with regulatory orders within prescribed timelines.
• Availability of a worker certified in emergency first aid.
