The details of a deal reached on a new Upper Churchill agreement are coming tomorrow, but VOCM News has learned that part of tomorrow’s announcement will include a break for electricity users.
Government sources close to the negotiations have confirmed for VOCM News that the premier is set to announce a 15 per cent Churchill River Electricity Rebate for Newfoundlanders and Labradorians.
According to sources, that rebate could save users hundreds of dollars a year.
How that will be achieved remains to be seen as details of the give and take are revealed tomorrow.
The announcement is scheduled for 1:45 p.m. featuring Premier Tony Wakeham, Prime Minister Mark Carney and Quebec officials including Premier Christine Frechette. VOCM News will carry it live.
