A 54-year-old man who was on a Canada-wide driving ban has been charged with flight from police after officers attempted to pull him over in Dildo.
A patrol officer was flagged down by a concerned citizen around 8:00 p.m. last Thursday who reported that a dirt bike was being driven in a dangerous manner along Front Road in the town.
The officer spotted the bike described and attempted to stop the vehicle, but the driver refused to pull over and instead tore off at a high speed.
Officers did not purse the vehicle in the interest of public safety.
On Monday police received another complaint about the same person who was heading down Anderson Cove Road toward New Harbour.
Police arrested 54-year-old Barry Martin of Dildo and seized his dirt bike.
He’s scheduled to appear in court next month on charges of flight from police, dangerous driving, two counts of driving while prohibited and two counts of failing to comply with a probation order.
