The official opposition is calling on government to reach out to industry representatives across the province to determine what their needs are with US tariffs back on.
John Hogan says Newfoundland and Labrador is “not immune” from the impacts of tariffs, but because of a diverse economy he doesn’t think this province will see the economic downturn that others will.
That said, Hogan stresses the importance of government reaching out to affected industries.
He notes that the former Liberal government had established a roundtable when the issue of tariffs came to light when Donald Trump took office. He says government needs to work with industry to make sure they are protected if things change.
