Much of the island is going to see heavy rainfall this weekend as a slow-moving low pressure system approaches from the south.
There’s a special weather statement out for the Avalon Peninsula with the heaviest rainfall expected Saturday night. Environment Canada meteorologist David Neil says most parts of the island will be affected to some degree.
The current model forecasts 40-70 mm of rain through Sunday.
Winds will pick up through Sunday, but are not expected to reach warning stage.
