Unemployment in Newfoundland and Labrador is at one of its lowest rates in a long time.
The rate fell to 8.6 per cent in August from 9.3 in July. It’s still the highest in the country, but not far off the national average of 6.4 per cent.
Unemployment also dropped in the metro region, from 7.0 per cent in July to 6.7 last month.
