The Town of Grand Falls-Windsor is mourning the loss of Deputy Mayor Rod Bennett, who has died after a battle with cancer.

Bennett, who first served on the town council from 2017 to 2021, was elected once again last fall – this time as deputy mayor.

A member of the Qalipu First Nation, Bennett also served as the Director of Operations.

The town says Bennett was always approachable, and was “genuinely passionate about making his community a better place.”

They state that his contributions will be remembered and he will be “deeply missed.”
