Charges of arson and resisting arrest are pending against a man following two fires in St. John’s this afternoon.
The RNC were called by a concerned citizen just after 1:30 p.m. who say they saw someone set fire to a garbage can outside the Arts and Culture Centre along on Allandale Road.
A short time later, a brush fire was reported on Mayor Avenue.
The first fire was put out by the fire department, while the second was extinguished by a member of the public.
Officers quickly located and arrested 44-year-old man in relation to the fires. He will be charged with arson and resisting arrest.
