The city of Mount Pearl is hosting a flag-raising ceremony this morning ahead of the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation and Orange Shirt Day.
The actual day, which is a statutory holiday, is tomorrow.
It will honour children who attended residential schools and look at the lasting impacts of those facilities.
The event is taking place at 8:30 a.m.
