The provincial government is giving Stephenville about half-a-million dollars for a new pumper truck. Premier Tony Wakeham, Mayor Bob Byrnes and Stephenville Fire Chief Don Gibbon gathered in the town yesterday for the announcement.
At the same time, Premier Wakeham gave fire departments in Cape St. George, Port au Port, and Kippens a total of $35,000 to buy 15 sets of wildland coveralls each.
