Provincial health ministers are warning of a “fiscal cliff” coming as $1.2 billion in federal funding for mental health, addictions and home care is due to expire in March.
The ministers met virtually this week to impress on Ottawa the importance of having the funding continue.
Provincial Health Minister Joedy Wall says the province just announced two health care projects that could be directly affected by a cut to federal funding.
They include the expansion of services at Humberwood and the opening of new long-term beds in Corner Brook.
“We do foresee the impact if the funding is not renewed, because there’s a lot of good things going on in the province with respect to health care.”
