Someone broke into one of the province’s most prominent historic sites on the weekend, making off with equipment and fuel.
An alarm sounded at the Castle Hill National Historic Site in Placentia just before 11:00 p.m. on Sunday.

Placentia-Whitbourne RCMP say the suspect or suspects broke the locks on a shed and removed two trimmers and several jerry cans filled with fuel.
Police believe the culprits accessed the site by ATV, and a storage trailer, left abandoned on a nearby trail, was seized as part of the investigation.
