People who prefer to book their airfare the old fashioned way may be hit with an extra fee.

Air Canada is now charging an extra fee of $30 per passenger for bookings made over the phone.

The non-refundable booking fee takes effect today.

The airline hopes the move will encourage more travellers to book online or via the Air Canada app.
