A hunter has been charged after somebody fired a rifle from the roadside on the New Harbour Barrens.
RCMP in Trinity-Conception were called just after 8:00 a.m. Wednesday following reports that a person, dressed in hunting gear, had discharged a firearm on the road near Tilton.
Officers arrived to find a woman with a hunting rifle standing next to a vehicle parked on the shoulder of the road.
The woman provided the officers with valid firearms and hunting permits, and her rifle was seized by police.
She was arrested without incident and has been charged with careless use of a firearm. She was also issued two tickets for violating provincial hunting regulations.
The woman will appear in court in December.
