Memorial University says the circumstances surrounding a frightening incident at its St. John’s campus last week are part of an ongoing police investigation and won’t be released publicly at this time.
A 15-year-old boy was arrested and charged with assault with a weapon and assault by choking after a staff member was attacked in their office on Friday afternoon.
The university says the staff member was not physically injured and has requested privacy. As such, the location of the incident is not being released by MUN.
Memorial says there is no ongoing risk to the university community.
MUN says the safety and security of its staff, students and visitors remains a top priority and Campus Security is available to escort staff, faculty, students and visitors to and from buildings, residences, and vehicles.
Additional safety features are also available through the MUN Safe app.
