A driver caught the attention of RCMP after he attempted to avoid a police checkpoint on the Southern Shore Highway Friday night.
Ferryland RCMP were pulling vehicles over near Bay Bulls when they noticed one pull out of traffic and turn in the opposite direction. Police caught up with them, and noticed open alcohol inside.
The 42-year-old man who was behind the wheel showed what officers say were “clear signs of impairment.”
He refused a roadside breath demand, so his licence was suspended and his vehicle was seized and impounded.
He’s scheduled to appear in court in December.
