The provincial government is in the process of identifying commissioners to lead an inquiry into Indigenous children in care.
Government was responding to questions raised by Simeon Tshakapesh—whose own son, Thunderheart, took his life while in care.
The Department of Justice says government and the Innu have agreed on the Terms of Reference.
Officials indicate that an inquiry into the treatment, experiences and outcomes of Innu in the child protection system will be established this year.
