About half a dozen vehicles were stuck in snow earlier this morning, those vehicles have since been cleared.
There were two collisions, but no injuries.
Storm Begins to Abate
The winds are abating, the snow is easing up, and the worst of that system which made for a messy commute and left mass confusion with delayed openings has moved off.
About 12 cm fell in metro with varying amounts elsewhere but the entire island felt it in some manner.
David Neal, a meteorologist with the Gander Weather Office, says winds peaked at 167 km/h in the Wreckhouse, 83 km/h at St. John’s International Airport.
Meanwhile, there is another system making its way to eastern Newfoundland, but it won’t arrive until Sunday night.
There will be some accumulation but it’s to early to say to what degree.
