The House of Assembly will not re-open for the first session of the 49th General Assembly today.
Provincial government offices in the St. John’s metro region will remain closed for the day, forcing the legislature to not open its doors.
The legislature will re-open for the 49th sitting on Tuesday at 1 p.m.

When the House of Assembly opens for its spring sitting. It will be Premier Dwight Ball’s last sitting as premier.
One of the first items on the agenda according to Ball will be to pass an Interim Supply Bill.
That will allow government services to continue, with some new legislation and amendments expected to be introduced.
As of Friday the price of Brent Crude had dropped to $50 US per barrel. The province had previously set an estimate of $65 per barrel in order to maintain its fiscal targets.
Premier Ball admits, there are challenges for jurisdictions like our own that rely on natural resource development.
Premier Ball says it’s about striking a balance between providing the services people need and controlling a growing deficit.
The province is continuing its discussions with Ottawa on a Fiscal Sustainability Program.
