There was a rather quick uptake when PC Leader Ches Crosbie posted a plea to Twitter to get more people donating to a local organization.
Crosbie took to Twitter late last week, challenging the public to donate to The Gathering Place, saying he would match the donations up to $10,000.
This came after The Gathering Place put out a call for help to restock grocery store gift cards.
We are kindly asking for donations of $5, $10 or $20 gift cards for stores within walking distance (for example, Colemans, Sobey's or Dominion), which can be dropped off at our front desk. Thank you for your continued support, we could not do it without you.

They say these gift cards are essential to operations and because of the recent State of Emergency, they ran out and have not been able to replenish them.
However, the tweet was gone by morning. As for why, Crosbie had a pretty simple answer: they were quick to reach their goal.
Crosbie says they’ll be receiving a cheque for $10,000 soon. He says the uptake was very popular and the Gathering Place deserves the support of all who can support it.
Donations are also being accepted online through The Gathering Place’s website at this link.
