The country’s Chief Medical Officer of Health is now warning Canadians against travelling on cruise ships as concerns heighten over the spread of the COVID-19 Coronavirus.
Dr. Theresa Tam issued the advisory as Canadian officials prepare for the arrival of 237 Canadians on board the Grand Princess that is expected to dock in Oakland, California Monday.
There are 21 diagnosed cases of COVID-19 on board the vessel.
An aircraft is being chartered by Global Affairs Canada to fly the Canadians from the Grand Princess to Trenton, Ontario.
Meanwhile, the first COVID-19 related death in Canada has been confirmed by British Columbia Health Officials this afternoon.
