The Royal Newfoundland Constabulary were forced to close a busy on-ramp to the Team Gushue Highway last night.
Emergency crews were called to the Brier Avenue ramp at about 8:30 p.m. after a car slid off the roadway and into a snowbank. While there were no injuries reported, and damage to the car appeared minimal, police closed the ramp due to extremely slippery road conditions. It appeared drifting snow had been compacted and polished by passing traffic until a slick sheet of ice wad formed.
The road was reopened after a short time, once salt had been spread.
