Eleven people in the province have now been admitted to hospital with COVID-19—two of whom are in intensive care.
Four new cases of the illness have been confirmed—all in the Eastern Health region—bringing the total number of COVID-19 cases in Newfoundland and Labrador to 152. Of those cases, 120 are linked to Caul’s Funeral Home.
143 cases are in the Eastern Health region, three in Central Health, one in Western Health and five in Labrador Grenfell-Health.
Yesterday, the first death from COVID-19 was confirmed—a 78-year-old man with underlying health issues.
Chief Medical Officer of Health with Newfoundland and Labrador, Dr. Janice Fitzgerald offered the update today, reminding residents that we remain at a “pivotal point” in the pandemic.
Dr. Fitzgerald clarified that while the two-week isolation period for those who attended Caul’s on March 15,16 and 17 is coming to an end tomorrow, that only applies to those who are not experiencing any symptoms.
All others must remain in self-isolation.
