If you’re planning on going to the cabin during the COVID-19 pandemic, you must still practice physical distancing.
Health Minister John Haggie says traditionally cabin parties are apart of the fabric of weekend life in the province, particularly when the snowmobiling is good; but those are adjustments that are crucial to make.
Haggie says he worries when travelling home and seeing lots of pickup trucks along the side of the road in clumps.
He worries that people are socially connected and physically distant at home, but socially and physically connected when in the woods, which undoes it all.
Meanwhile, the Premier says the virus doesn’t have a postal code and doesn’t respect communities or locations.
He says if you do not practice the guidelines put in place, you’re just as exposed on a pond or lake in remote Newfoundland and Labrador as you are in a crowd of people in downtown St. John’s.
