A community rich in folklore and oral history has made the step in putting their heritage on an exhibit online.
The Town of Bay Roberts Heritage Committee and Heritage NL have partnered up to put a selection of stories online as part of “Carved By The Sea.”
The exhibition, supported by the Virtual Museum of Canada, showcases the rich history in the area.
Dale Jarvis of Heritage NL says the website is a great outlet to share stories of the area which once consisted of five smaller communities: Bay Roberts East, Bay Roberts, Coley’s Point, Shearstown/Butlerville and Country Road. The town was amalgamated into the Town of Bay Roberts in 1951.
The investment from the Museum of Canada helps smaller Canadian museums and heritage organizations work with their communities to develop virtual exhibits to engage with broader audiences.
