More than $110,000 is being added to the Community Food Program Support Fund to help food programs and organizations in the province with food security.
This builds on Food First NL and the provincial government’s funding of $560,000.
CEO of Food First NL, Josh Smee says the massive response speaks to how critical food security is in the province.
He says the funding will allow 150 community food programs run by more than 120 organizations to have the right to safe, healthy, and culturally-appropriate food.
The new funding comes from the International Grenfell Association along with the Community Food Centres Canada’s Good Food Access Fund.
