Enthusiasts can hit the links again as courses slowly begin to open across the province.
Golfers have been waiting patiently to get at the clubs, but courses are now permitted to open under the province’s Alert Level 4 provided they are able to maintain the requirements of social distancing.
Greg Hillier of Golf NL says about 750 people are employed in the industry—many in rural areas. Hillier says golfers are asked to stay within their bubble and not to touch other people’s golfing equipment.
He says this is a good opportunity to introduce new people to golf. The driving range at Pippy Park is open so he hopes people take the time to avail of that facility.
