Those itching to get out camping will soon get their wish, within certain public health guidelines.
The Chief Medical Officer of Health, Dr. Janice Fitzgerald, announced yesterday that some limited camping could resume when the province moves to Alert Level Three. That could come as early as June 8th, if current COVID numbers hold steady.
Fitzgerald says camping will be confined to campers or cabins that have their own holding tanks and personal washroom facilities. Tent camping will not be permitted in Alert Level Three.
Campground owners also have to adhere to certain protocols.
That includes policies to maintain physical distancing, and all shared facilities like playgrounds, washrooms and cook houses must remain closed.
