Newfoundlanders and Labradorians can now expand their double bubbles to include six more people effective immediately.
The Chief Medical Officer of Health says those six people do not have to be from the same household.
Dr. Janice Fitzgerald says the bubble expansion directive is not about randomly looking for others to join your bubble.
📢 EFFECTIVE TODAY, you can expand your bubble to include up to 6 other other individuals! The goal of this extended bubble is to allow more social connection, while keeping your risk for #COVID19 as low as possible. "Bubble Up, don't bubble over!" Dr. Fitzgerald says the people you add to your bubble should be those who you would have seen several times a week before the pandemic. She says the goal of the extended bubble is to allow more social connection with the important people in your lives, while still keeping the risk of contracting COVID-19 low.
Dr. Fitzgerald says if you decide to expand your bubble, those new members must not change.
Premiers Discussing Possibility of Atlantic Bubble

Premier Dwight Ball says he is working with other the Atlantic provinces to discuss the possibility of creating an “Atlantic bubble” this summer.
Ball says it must first be proven that travel around the province is safe before they open the borders to the other Atlantic provinces.
He says if the decision to reopen the border is made, it will be done through consultation with public health officials and the premiers of PEI, Nova Scotia and New Brunswick.
