The leader of the official opposition has thrown his voice into the mix of those calling for federal assistance for the province’s offshore oil and gas industry.
Last week, the province joined the call for the federal government to step in, an approach which PC Leader Ches Crosbie called “embarrassing.”
Now, Crosbie has written his own letter to Prime Minister Justin Trudeau, which he says takes on a much different tone by not “pleading” with government to do something, but rather by warning them of what will happen if they don’t do something.
He says Trudeau is destroying the industry through neglect.

Meanwhile, Crosbie continued his criticism of federal Natural Resources Minister Seamus O’Regan.
Crosbie says he hasn’t been targeting O’Regan, the minister has been targeting himself through his “conspicuous missing in action.” According to Crosbie, O’Regan needs to “get himself discharged from the witness protection program” and address what is happening.
