The Mayor of St. John’s says more funding is needed from Ottawa to keep municipalities running.
Danny Breen says the money announced by Prime Minister Justin Trudeau this week is not new and is actually the early release of previously committed capital funding.
The city has already earmarked that funding for a replacement for the Mews Centre, and it cannot be used for operational purposes.
Breen says further funding is needed to support municipalities and keep essential services running, and the Prime Minister has indicated that more support is coming.
