A St. John’s City Councillor says there are better ways to express your views than to vandalize city property.
Ward 1 Councillor, Deanne Stapleton, says residents found graffiti on the Bannerman Park Loop Monday morning.
She agrees there is a powerful message behind the art, as it is in response to the death of George Floyd with messages saying, “never forget” and “hands up, don’t shoot.”
She says it is important that people know they can still have a voice through means other than vandalism.
Stapleton says there are better ways people can peacefully protest other than marking up city property – especially the parks.
