Many are looking forward to what new freedoms they can start to enjoy on Monday, June 8.
Businesses and city buildings have had to adapt to the new normal and put safety protocols in place to protect the public.
Mount Pearl Mayor Dave Aker says City Hall will be open come Monday but on an appointment basis. He says they’ve installed plexiglass in city buildings which cost tens of thousands of dollars.
With summer on the way, many parents are wondering what will be available for children. Mayor Aker says the city will tentatively start accepting registration on Monday, June 15. Capacity will be reduced, due to COVID-19 precautions. The City is still awaiting word on regulations from the provincial government, and states that details on the summer camp are subject to change.
When Alert Level 2 comes, they foresee camps opening in August however, they will operate differently. Aker says camps will be more outdoor orientated with smaller groups.
