The government expects to have a budget by the end of September when the money taps run dry.
The minority government extended its financial lifeline to September 30 through Interim Supply, but it may not have enough support to go the same route again.
Interim Supply usually provides an extra three months. However, because of COVID-19, government got six months which amounted to $4.8-billion.
Neither the PCs (15 seats) nor the NDP (three seats) will support another interim supply, leaving the balance of power largely in the hands of Independents Eddie Joyce and Paul Lane.
NDP Leader Alison Coffin is taking a hard line with Finance Minister Tom Osborne.
Coffin says the Minister has ample opportunity to present a budget on time; the Minister expects to do so.
