An MHA would like to see government ease restrictions on weddings to bring them more in line with other provinces in the Atlantic Bubble. Under Alert Level 2, weddings are mass gatherings with attendance capped at 50 including the officiant.
Independent MHA Paul Lane says he has been hearing from many frustrated brides-to-be as well as business owners in the wedding industry. Lane says they are particularly annoyed that in the Maritimes, wedding-goers can dance the night away while in this province, the dance floor is—for the most part—closed.
He wouldn’t be surprised to see some people have their weddings in a different “bubble” province.
People are telling him that they could have the wedding in Nova Scotia with 200 people, then hop on a ferry to return without having to self-isolate.
