A couple in Hearts Delight-Islington are the province’s newest millionaires.
When Sharon and Fred Worthman added Atlantic 49 to their lotto freeplay ticket, they never imagined they would win $1-million but that’s exactly what happened in the March 18 draw. Atlantic Lotto has just released the information.
They plan to share their winnings with their two daughters, buy a new ATV and complete some renovations on their home, including a new kitchen. Sharon said the last words her father ever told her was if she had a toonie in her pocket to buy a lottery ticket for him.
Atlantic 49, which has a top prize of $1-million and a guaranteed prize of $25,649 every draw, is available only in Atlantic Canada.
The ticket was purchased at Welsh’s Pharmacy in Hearts Delight-Islington, who receive a one per cent -$10,000- seller’s prize.
