This has been a devastating year for fatal ATV collisions in the province.
Eight families lost loved ones as the result of ATV crashes so far this year; that’s double the total number of fatalities last year.
Corporal Jolene Garland says the law dictates that helmets are worn at all times while operating an ATV.
She says in about half the incidents, helmets were not worn. While in some cases, the helmet appears to have come off in the collision, meaning it may not have been properly fitted.
Corporal Garland says the number of complaints about improper ATV use on roads, and through communities is also on the rise this year.
