Contact tracing continues after two members of the military tested positive for COVID-19 after arriving at the base in 5 Wing Goose Bay earlier this week.
The two members were among 35 Forces personnel who were returning home from overseas deployment as part of Operation Impact. In a statement, the Forces said while all health and safety precautions were followed during and after the flight, there does remain a risk for deployed personnel.
The flight stopped in Goose Bay overnight Monday. The statement said everyone on board was transported to accommodations on base where they were isolated from the rest of the base and town.
It said contact tracing is continuing to ensure that anyone who might have been exposed is isolated to reduce the possibility of spread.
The plane and other personnel later continued on to its final destination in Trenton, Ont., with facilities at Goose Bay sanitized.
Meanwhile, the provincial government reported no new cases of COVID-19 today. There remains one active case, that being a female under the age of 19 who recently returned from Asia.
In July, Health Minister John Haggie noted the province would not have access to information involving travel of military personnel since it falls under federal jurisdiction.
