A Paradise mother is offering a warning to other parents to keep their vehicle doors locked day and night after a frightening incident involving her 4-year-old son.
Shelley Penney and her family were camping at Golden Sands Provincial Park on the Burin Peninsula on the weekend attending a family reunion when her little boy went missing.
She told her son that they were going to get some ice cream, but she had to use the bathroom first. When she returned, he was gone.
Twenty minutes later, her husband found the boy in the car, passed out from the heat.
She says when her husband picked him up, he was limp. They called an ambulance, and he came around after she splashed him with some cold water. He did not suffer any lasting effects.
Penney is offering a warning to other parents. Keep your car doors locked because kids will go wherever they want to go.
