The FFAW says the takeover of Quinlan Brothers by a company owned by the Government of Greenland warrants more public debate and a closer examination by the provincial government.
Union president Keith Sullivan says the purchase by Royal Greenland puts too much power in the hands of too few companies, thus reducing competition.
He says Royal Greenland’s priority will be to its owners which leaves harvesters in this province in a precarious position.
Sullivan says handing over control and the value of product to a foreign company is a bad first step toward growing the economy.
