A 26-year-old man is awaiting a court appearance after robbing a pedestrian at knifepoint. Just after midnight, police were patrolling the centre city area of St. John’s when officers spotted a person in distress. When approached it was discovered that the person had just been robbed at knifepoint. Police scanned the area and quickly apprehended the suspect a short distance away. In collaboration with the RNC’s Criminal Investigation Division, the 26-year-old was charged with robbery and breaching court orders.
A young person has been arrested and is facing assault charges following an incident in St. John’s on Tuesday afternoon. Police responded to reports of an assault in the centre city area around 1:30 p.m. yesterday. As a result of a short investigation, a young person was arrested and charged with two counts of assault and breaching court orders.
Then, later Tuesday evening, around 7:30 p.m., police responded to another assault in progress in the centre city area. A 45-year-old St. John’s resident was charged with assault and released to appear at a later date. Police say the victim did not require medical attention.
A 23-year-old St. John’s resident is facing charges after an incident at a grocery store in the capital city. Police were called to a grocery store in the centre city area around 6:00 p.m. Tuesday for an unruly customer. As soon as police arrived on the scene, the customer threatened the responding officers and as a result, the 23-year-old was charged with uttering threats and breaching court orders.
Meanwhile, a couple of hours later, at 8:00 p.m., police responded to a robbery at a business in Mount Pearl. The suspect threatened security with a needle, but no one was injured. The man fled the area but was later identified through CCTV video from responding officers. A warrant has been issued for the 36-year-old suspect.
