Government says it’s too early to decide if next June’s public exams should be cancelled.
Education Minister Tom Osborne was responding to questions yesterday from St. John’s Centre MHA Jim Dinn, who wants the exams cancelled now so teachers and students can focus on bridging the gap in learning dating back to last March when schools closed due to the pandemic.
January public exams have already been called off but Osborne says it’s still too soon to make the call for June.
Osborne says he’ll be consulting with staff in his department and do what’s in the best interests of students and teachers, adding a decision on June exams will be made early in the new year.
