The skies opened up yesterday on the west coast, last night in central, and this morning in the east and metro.
The southwest coast had about 75 mm of rain up to 9:00 this morning with the south coast including the Burin Peninsula in for at least 50 mm with more to come until it lets up this afternoon.
In metro, the rain and high winds move out by about suppertime.
David Neal, a meteorologist with Environment Canada, says winds were nudging triple digits from east to west.
He says there will be a lull on the west coast but a band of high winds from the southwest returns with a vengeance tonight. Gusts up to 130 km/h are expected for the west coast tonight.
Meanwhile, Mother Nature continues to pile on in central Labrador.
Happy Valley-Goose Bay is getting another significant snowfall today and tonight with a total of about 20 cm on the way.
Neal says given what is already on the ground in central Labrador, even this amount of snow can cause visibility issues.
The highest amounts are expected in the Makkovik and Postville areas with up to 30-35 cm into the early morning hours on Tuesday.
