Charges are pending after police arrested two men in Spaniard’s Bay for drug-impaired driving.
It was part of an initiative on Friday that saw over 500 vehicles pulled over and checked.
Around 11:30, a 29-year-old Upper Island Cove man was pulled over and a roadside screening device confirmed he was under the influence of cannabis.

Then, just five minutes later at the same checkpoint, police pulled over a 31-year-old Carbonear man. He was found to be in illegal possession of prescription medication and cannabis. He was also determined to be under the influence.
The man was found to be a federal parolee, and had his parole was revoked.
In both cases, police are waiting on the results of Drug Influence Evaluations before laying charges. Both men had their licences suspended and vehicles impounded.
